I tried all the other stuff like disabling 802.11 settings under properties blah blah ..nothing worked.
To resolve i went to the manufacturer site and downloaded the latest drivers for the wireless card, and any other drivers i could. I had the same problem with a toshiba satellite p30 running windows xp pro sp3 with an atheros 5004x wireless card.I have unticked the Hi i also have a problem with my wireless connection.i tried to follow grahams suggestions but when i entered the network key it says it "should be 40 bits ot 104bits depending on the network configuration, can be enetered in 5 0r 13 ascii characters; 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters...network key is 9 characters.should i do....please help...thanks..marge- Install modem/router with cd provided.- During installation you need to entered/will be provided with the network key- Or you can get the network key via accessing the router using IE.I went to the atheros site and downloaded the lastest driver.Straight away windows asks for my password and it worked.ps make sure your connected to ethernet when doing once you get new ip address your good to go disconnect ethernet To fix, you go into the properties page of your wireless connection, go to "Wireless Networks" tab and then to Properties of the chosen wireless network you are trying to connect to. Vince I did not find the above fix for the problem to completely fix the problem.
